Design Assistance:
Measuring and Ordering Guide - Valances

Before you start:

  1. Have a pen or pencil handy
  2. Use a metal tape measure, it will provide for a more accurate measurement
  3. Measure each window, don’t assume that all the windows in the same space have the same measurements


Order in 2 easy steps

Step 1. Mount Type:

OUTSIDE MOUNT

Our valances are mounted outside the frame of the window.

A minimum of 2” flat surface is needed for a secure mount.

All our valances have a predetermined length. Contact us if you wish to change the finished height measurement.

Step 2. Measuring:

Measure the width at the top of the window where the valance is to be installed. If space allows we recommend that you
add 3" to the width (1 ½" on each side). This is your ordering face width.

If you are planning on installing a shade or drapery panels under your valance, the valance depth (return) will have to be greater than our standard 3 ½”. A 5 ½” return is available. Contact us at 203-522-4646 or email us at drapedindetails@gmail.com for more information.


Note: When calculating the height of a treatment that will be installed under/inside the valance, please account for the ¾” thickness of the valance headrail. Therefore your treatment will drop down ¾” lower than the top of the valance.
