Measuring and Ordering Guide - Roman Shades
|
|
Order in 5 easy steps
Step 1. Select Mount type:
|
INSIDE MOUNT
- Mounted within the window frame
- Provides a clean, built in look
- Great way to showcase attractive woodwork
- ¾” minimum depth required for secure mount
- 2” minimum depth required for flush mount see detail on graphic
- If window frame is not deep enough, please select outside mount
|
OUTSIDE MOUNT
- Great option when there is not enough depth for an inside mount.
- Mounted to the wall, ceiling or molding surface surrounding the window.
- Often used to make a window appear larger or to hide a less attractive window or door.
- No minimum depth requirement.
- Minimum of 2 ¼” flat surface required for secure mount.
|
|
Step 2. Measuring
INSIDE MOUNT
- Measure the inside width of the window at three places: top, middle and bottom. Record the smallest of the three measurements.
- This is your ordering width. We will make the necessary deductions (approx. 3/8”)
- Measure the height at three places: left, center and right. Record the largest of the three measurements. This is your ordering length.
- When ordering an inside mount shade, gravity may pull the shade away from the sides allowing for light to spill through. If you want total privacy, you may want to consider an outside mount shade.
|
OUTSIDE MOUNT
-
Measure the width of the area you wish to cover. If space allows we recommend adding 2” to 3” (1” to 1 ½” each side) to this measurement to help eliminate light seepage. This is your ordering width and will be the overall measurement of the shade.
-
Measure the height of the area you wish to cover.
This is your ordering length.
|
|
Step 3. Control Type:
| STANDARD CORD LOCK
|
CONTINUOUS LOOP – CLUTCH ROLL
-
Continuous bead chain allows easy operation
-
The chain always remains at the same length no matter what position the shade is in.
-
Makes operating larger shades much easier
-
1” minimum depth required for secure mount
-
2 ½” minimum depth required for flush mount

| Step 4. Control Position:
|
Step 5. Lining:
Lining refers to fabric which is sewn to the back of the shade to protect it from the sun, improve insulation, and add body. Lining (s) also provide privacy by reducing the amount of light that travels through the shade. All linings are available in white and off white color. We will make the determination of which color to use when you select your fabric and place your order. Contact us at 203-522-4646 or e-mail us at drapedindetails@gmail.com with questions or concerns.
UNLINED
-
No lining added to your shade
- Preserves the natural sheerness of the material
- Not recommended when using silk fabric which will be exposed to direct sunlight
|
LINED
- Offers privacy and provides greater light control
- Protects fabric and improves insulation
- Adds additional body
|
BLACKOUT LINING
- Blocks 99 % of light for complete privacy and great insulation
- Great for bedrooms, media rooms or whenever complete privacy is desired
|
INTERLINING
- Cotton flannel lining hangs between the material you selected and the lining
- Gives your shade extra body
- Offers privacy and light control
- Offers additional insulation
- We recommend that if you wish interlining that you opt for the continuous cord loop/clutch roll lift system
